Is HRT the same as TRT?
They're siblings, not twins. Both replace hormones the body is producing less of, but "HRT" conventionally refers to menopause hormone therapy - estrogen, usually with progesterone - while "TRT" is testosterone replacement therapy, most commonly for men with clinically low testosterone. Different hormones, different diagnostics, different specialists, and largely different providers.
Who is each treatment for?
Menopause HRT addresses symptoms of the menopause transition, confirmed mainly by symptoms and history. TRT addresses diagnosed low testosterone, which requires blood work - legitimate TRT providers always test before treating. Women can also be prescribed testosterone in specific clinical situations, but that's a specialist decision within menopause care, not "TRT" as marketed to men.
