altRx vs Sprout: a closer look at each

Both are solid GLP-1 weight loss providers, and honestly you can’t go too wrong either way. So instead of crowning a “winner,” here’s the real rundown on each - what you get, what it actually costs, and what real customers are saying - so you can pick the one that fits you.

What is altRx?

altRx bills itself as "the #1 most affordable GLP-1 program," and its published prices largely back that up: compounded GLP-1 (semaglutide) from $89/month and GLP-1 + GIP (tirzepatide) from $149/month - flat at every dose, so the price doesn't climb as you titrate up - alongside one of the few genuine brand-name shelves in this space (Ozempic $1,149, Zepbound $1,249, Wegovy $1,579 per month). It's a self-pay telehealth service: you complete a short assessment, a licensed provider (physician, PA, or nurse practitioner) reviews it, and if appropriate a prescription goes to a licensed US pharmacy, with free shipping in about 5-7 days. No insurance is required, Buy Now, Pay Later is available, and you can pause or cancel anytime. Two things to know before the details: shipping is slower than the 1-2 day providers (embody, DirectMeds), and Trustpilot does not currently display an aggregate score on altRx's profile - the individual reviews we quote on this page are real, but there's no independent average to lean on the way there is for rivals like Medvi (4.4 across 14,372) or embody (3.8 across 4,956). One of the real 4-star reviews we surface notes a refill 'yet to be fulfilled with zero reason as to why' - worth factoring in alongside the price advantage.

Good experience but a little frustration

I'm on my third month with altRx and while my first two months were very smooth, this third one has been terrible. My refill order has yet to be fulfilled with zero reason as to why. Customer service says they requested to “expedite it” but nothing yet. We shall see. I've been happy otherwise.

My first time ordering from AltRx

I was looking for a telehealth that utilized the same pharmacy I was already using, and AltRx was one of the ones. Ordering through AltRx was almost a 3rd of the cost I spent the first 3 months through the FSA site. Everything else ran smoothly. I ordered 7/5 and received it today, 7/13. I paid through Afterpay, so they can't renew without my approval.

What is Sprout?

Sprout is a telehealth GLP-1 program with a straightforward pitch: personalized treatment plans built around your health goals, prescriptions shipped within 2 days of approval, and a menu that covers both lanes - compounded semaglutide starting at $149/month and compounded tirzepatide at $199/month, with brand-name Wegovy available from $1,799/month for anyone set on the branded pen. There's a standing offer of $200 off the first month. Sprout doesn't publish an aggregate Trustpilot score, but the individual reviews we surface are real and consistently credit its support team - 'they were quick to respond and the process for approval worked seamlessly,' writes one customer, with several others naming specific support reps who fixed problems fast. Its pricing sits mid-market: above the $59-$99 value tier, below trimrx and SHED - the fair way to read Sprout is speed and personalization at a middle price.

altRx vs Sprout: FAQs

Which is better, altRx vs Sprout?

altRx wins on the numbers: $60/month cheaper on compounded semaglutide, $50 cheaper on tirzepatide, three brand-name options to Sprout's one - with its Wegovy $220/month cheaper - plus BNPL and pause-anytime flexibility. Sprout takes the speed column outright: 2-day fulfillment against altRx's 5-7 day shipping is a real difference when you're starting or switching without a buffer. If the calendar matters more than the invoice, Sprout; otherwise altRx is the stronger version of the same idea.

Is altRx cheaper than Sprout?

altRx lists compounded semaglutide at $89/month (regularly $199) and tirzepatide at $149 (regularly $299), flat at every dose. Sprout starts at $149/$199. The $200 first-month discount helps Sprout's year-one math, but altRx stays $50-60/month ahead from month two on.

Which is the more established brand, altRx or Sprout?

Both can prescribe brand-name medication, which is what makes this matchup rare. altRx stocks three brands - Ozempic $1,149, Zepbound $1,249, Wegovy $1,579 - while Sprout lists Wegovy from $1,799. More choice, lower prices: the shelf goes to altRx.

Which is faster, altRx or Sprout?

Sprout ships prescriptions within 2 days of approval. altRx's free shipping runs about 5-7 days - its one structural weakness. For switchers timing a transition against their last brand pen, that gap can decide the matchup on its own.

Which offers more flexible plans, altRx or Sprout?

altRx offers Buy Now, Pay Later, requires no insurance, and lets you pause or cancel anytime. Sprout's $200 first-month discount is the better door prize, but altRx's ongoing terms are the most flexible in this matchup.
